Maltway was founded by Alan Mayo and Richard Walton. They began their professional careers in the 1980's as practising accountants with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the UK before becoming founding members of PwC's client training division in the early 1990's. They have been working as training consultants and providers to leading UK and international companies and public sector bodies ever since.
Richard Walton ACA BSc
Richard has thirteen years experience in training consulting and development and is one of the UK's leading experts in learning evaluation. Working with blue chip companies Richard has analysed training needs, led and developed training in:
- the global implementation of financial controls and risk assessment frameworks to financial controllers of a major oil and gas company
- consulting skills and problem solving techniques for the management teams and internal auditors of an international beverages business
- the implementation of new sales contracts and processes for the sales team of a global communications business
Richard developed the PwC methodology in the application of learning evaluation and training strategy effectiveness and has spoken many times on these topics at conferences. He is also an experienced assessor, having worked on the largest retraining assignment of a bankassurance sales team in the UK and is Insights accredited.
Alan Mayo FCA BSc
Alan has worked for 15 years in training consultancy in the fields of finance, systems and business performance training. During this time he has worked with:
- financial analysts of many of the UKs leading financial institutions in the fields of comparative accounting, interpreting UK and IFRS financial statements and accounting for M&As.
- business managers of leading banks and global corporates introducing them to new business metrics and how to use those metrics to unlock shareholder value
- the executive teams of transport companies in the UK and Eastern Europe preparing them for the impact of operating in a privatised and competitive environment
- the finance teams of numerous listed companies preparing them for the transition to IFRS and the impact on their group financial reporting
- functional management teams and business analysts of corporates, public sector and not-for-profit organisations to develop their financial management skills and to enable them to use new business planning systems
- public sector bodies to develop their training strategy for implementation of new business systems and processes and to design and deliver that systems and process training.
